This botanical garden, on the southeast slope of Sant Joan mount in Blanes, set on the cliffs, was created in 1921 by the German scientist, Karl Faust. Years later, Marimurtra became one of the most important biological stations in the Mediterranean. Marimurtra Botanical Garden combines not only native plants and trees, but also plant species from all over the world, such as palms from Chile and trees that are characteristic of Africa and Mexico, amongst others.
