The sanctuary of "Els Àngels"
Els Àngels is situated at a height of 485 m., on a peak called Puig Alt, to the north of the Gavarres hills.
Its origins are uncertain, but there was possibly a previous constuction on the same site. The present-day building dates from the beginning of the 15th century.
The view on a clear day, when the tramontana wind blows, is exceptional. It is possible to enjoy panoramic views of all the Girona counties: the
Gavarres hills, the
Costa Brava, the
Baix Empordà plain, the
Alt Empordà, the
Roda hills, the
Alberes, the
Garrotxa, the
Pyrenees, the
Guilleries, the
Montseny and the
Selva plain.

In 1958 the great painter,
Salvador Dalí, married Gala in the sanctuary of Els Àngels.
There is a play area and restaurant in the vicinity of the sanctuary.
