The Espai Carmen Thyssen is an arts centre devoted to temporary exhibitions. It was inaugurated in the summer of 2012 with the exhibition 'Landscapes of light, landscapes of dreams. From Gauguin to Delvaux.' The show was well received by the general public and critics alike and the gallery has become one of the leading art centres on the Costa Brava.

The Espai Carmen Thyssen Gallery is located on the second and third floors of the Abbot's Palace in the complex of the monastery of Sant Feliu de Guíxols, founded by the Benedictine order and with original features in the Romanesque style.

The second floor of the palace contains rooms 1,2 and 3 of the exhibition. This part of the building is where the living quarters of the monastery were located, along with the administrative area and secretary's office.

The Carmen Thyssen Space occupies 5 additional rooms (4-8) on the third floor of the abbatial residence. This floor has the feel of a stately home or manor house, enjoying wonderful natural light. It contained the living quarters of the abbot himself (chambers and study), along with a large reception area for visiting dignitaries, both ecclesiastical and political, a dining room and a guest room.

The Municipal Museum of Tossa de Mar is situated right in the heart of the Vila Vella, the 12th century walled old town. It occupies the 14th century Casa Falguera building, also known as the house of the Batlle de Sac (administrator) or the Governor's house. The Falguera family represented the Abbot of Ripoll (the feudal lord of the town), collecting taxes on his behalf. The Batlle de Sac was an administrator entrusted with collecting taxes on behalf of the abbot, which were paid in kind (tithes). The tithes were collected in sacks, which is where the name Batlle de Sac comes from.

The site is outstanding. The majestic Codolar tower (or Keep) overlooks the beach of the same name and is fully integrated within the museum. The museum founders were very careful to choose the grandest building possible to house the art collection.

The parish museum, known as El Tresor (The Treasury) is located in the new sacristy and its adjoining rooms. It contains the cathedral's important collection of gold and silver work.

The first room houses one of the museum's most important pieces, a 16th century gold-plated silver processional cross adorned with precious stones and two medals that depict the Virgin Mary and Saint John.

Another of the museum's most valuable objects is the 17th century Plateresque-style silver relief image of the Virgin Mary. The glass cases also display a large collection of vestments from different periods and valuable copies of books of Gregorian chant.

The second room, which houses the collection of religious paintings, features the relief of an 18th century altarpiece of Saint Catherine and eight reliefs belonging to the thrones built in the church in 1939.

The third room contains a collection of vases and amphorae from the 14th and 15th centuries, found in the cathedral during the restoration works carried out in 1972.

Cadaqués Municipal Museum is devoted to Salvador Dalí, the genius of Empordà, and throughout years holds temporary exhibitions dedicated to the painter's life and works.

The wide-ranging nature of the exhibitions reflects the diversity of the painter's personality and is the key to the museum's success in constantly surprising visitors.

The museum's rooms also house temporary exhibitions devoted to other artists associated with the village, such as Pichot, Niebla, Picasso, etc.

Can Trincheria is an old manor house built in the first half of the 18th century and considered one of the most important family residences in Olot.

The house is named after the Trincheria family of Prats de Molló, a historically important family in the military and political spheres.

The house boasts an ornamental nativity scene with figurines by Ramon Amadeu and period furniture including beds from Olot. The walls are decorated with mythological scenes and landscapes.

Casa Masó was the family home of the architect Rafael Masó (1880-1935). It is one of his most important architectural works and the only one of the famous houses over the River Onyar that is open to the general public. The house has been preserved together with its noucentista furniture and decoration. It also offers spectacular views of the city.

The building we see today is the result of the joining together of four separate dwellings acquired by the family between the mid-19th century and the turn of the 20th century. Today it looks similar to how it did after the final refurbishment completed by Rafael Masó in 1919. The house has been owned by Girona City Council since 2006 and is run by the Rafael Masó Foundation.

Casa Masó is open to the general public every day, morning and afternoon, from Tuesday to Saturday, except on local and national public holidays. The house can only be visited on guided tours for small groups of 10 people (max.) at stipulated times.

Inaugurated in 1974, the Dalí Theatre-Museum was built upon the remains of the former Figueres theatre. It contains the broadest range of works spanning the artistic career of Salvador Dalí (1904-1989), from his earliest artistic experiences and his surrealist creations to the works produced in the last few years of his life

Some of the most noteworthy works on display there are: Port Alguer (1924), The Girl from Figueres (1926), The Spectre of Sex Appeal (1932), Soft Self-Portrait with Fried Bacon (1941), Poetry of America – The Cosmic Athletes (1943), Galarina (1944-45), Basket of Bread (1945), Napoleon’s Nose Transformed into a Pregnant Woman Strolling Her Shadow with Melancholic amongst Original Ruins (1945), Atomic Leda (1949), Apotheosis of the Dollar (1965), Galatea of the Spheres (1952) and Dawn, Noon, Afternoon and Evening (1979).

Other highlights include the set of works that the artist created expressly for the Theatre-Museum, such as the Mae West Room, the Wind Palace Room, the Monument to Francesc Pujols and the Rainy Cadillac. The Theatre-Museum also features works by other artists that Dalí wished to include there: El Greco, Marià Fortuny, Modest Urgell, Ernest Meissonier, Marcel Duchamp, Wolf Vostell, Antoni Pitxot and Evarist Vallès, among others.

The Dalí Theatre-Museum must be seen as a whole, as the great work of Salvador Dalí, since all of its elements were conceived and designed by the artist with the goal of offering visitors a real experience and immersing them in his captivating and unique world.

The Empordà Museum, located in the centre of Figueres, capital of Alt Empordà, houses one of the region's main art collections. Created in 1946, its collections date from the end of the 19th century and come from donations bequeathed by important figures from the city, as well as from the holdings of Madrid's Prado Museum. The present-day building was constructed in 1971 and contains pieces of archaeology, history and art of the city and region, thanks to an important donation made by the collector Frederic Marès. In 1998 the Empordà Museum Consortium was created by Figueres City Council and Alt Empordà County Council, coinciding with the renovation of the permanent collection. The museum today offers visitors a historical reading of its collections and also focuses on contemporary art.

The mE is a multidisciplinary institution devoted to the research, conservation and dissemination of the local and regional cultural heritage through the organisation of exhibitions and activities, with a strong focus on contemporary artistic creation.

The Gala - Dalí Castle in Púbol, open to the public since 1996, enables visitors to discover a mediaeval building in which Salvador Dalí unleashed all his creative power with a single person in mind: Gala; and with a single objective: to create a place of rest and refuge for his wife. However, between 1982 and 1984 Dalí turned the place into his last workshop and a mausoleum for his muse.

There is documentary evidence of the building dating all the way back to the 11th century but the basic structure of the present-day building, with three floors arranged around a high, narrow inner courtyard, dates from the golden age of the barony of Púbol in the second half of the 14th century and the turn of the 15th century.

When Dalí purchased the castle in 1969 it was in very poor condition with collapsed ceilings, large cracks and a garden run wild. However, this is what gave the place the romantic feel the couple were searching for, and which they strived to preserve in the restoration works that they commissioned. The ruinous exterior appearance was retained, without hiding the scars left by the passage of time. Dalí made very intelligent use of the semi-ruined walls and ceilings, creating unusual spaces of starkly contrasting dimensions. The interior decoration consisted of pictorial scenes on walls, false architectural features, fabrics in a Baroque style, antiques and romantic symbols, etc. The result is an enclosed, mysterious, private, austere and sober place, with beautiful rooms such as the former kitchen converted into a bathroom or the Piano Room.

The museum is housed in the 12th century parish church of Santa Maria, of which the Romanesque apse and transept remain.

In 1968, as part of the celebrations of the 9th centenary of the monastery of Sant Salvador in Breda, a Josep Aragay retrospective was shown. It was on this occasion that the artist stated his wish to bequeath his work to the town of Breda.

Josep Aragay died in 1973. The following year the museum was created as a tribute to the artist, promoted by the Amics de BREDA (Friends of BREDA) association.

The museum's works have been donated by Aragay's widow, Na Teresa Solà, by Salvador and Fanny Riera, by Marcel·lí Trunes, and later on by Martina Aragay, the artist's niece, among others.

In 1984 it was incorporated in the museums network of the Government of Catalonia. At the end of 1987 it was closed for refurbishment and extension works. The facility was reopened in May 1988 with the collaboration of the Department of Culture of the Government of Catalonia, Girona Provincial Council and Breda Town Council.

In February 2000 the collection was expanded when the Government of Catalonia transferred the works by Aragay held in the Salvador Riera Collection, which it owns, to the museum.

In addition to the Aragay Museum, the network includes three other museums:

The Ethnological Museum of Montseny - La Gabella (Arbúcies)

The Guilleries Museum (Sant Hilari Sacalm)

European Cultural Centre of Nature (Viladrau)

The Llívia pharmacy is considered the oldest in Europe, with documentary evidence of its existence stretching back to 1594. At the turn of the 17th century it was bought by the Esteva family, which ran it for seven generations until it closed its doors in 1926. In 1965 it was purchased by Girona Provincial Council with the pledge that it would remain in Llívia. The museum also houses an important collection of archaeological material through which the history of the town can be traced.

The Raset Museum is a modern art museum housed in an impressive 13th century manor house. Part of the house has been restored to accommodate attractive exhibition areas. The museum exhibits the works of the affiliated Bueler-Bernard art collection. The collection is largely made up of Spanish and Catalan paintings, but it has a strong international flavour since it also stretches far beyond national borders.

The semi-permanent exhibition entitled '100 Years of Modern Still Life Painting' is an inspiring selection of paintings from the Bueler-Bernard collection that explores still life painting over the last 100 years.

The Raset Museum presents the still life exhibition '100 Years of Modern Still Life Painting', focusing on distinct artistic approaches to modern still life painting in the Bueler-Bernard collection. Some 40 paintings have been selected by 20 different artists from the 20th century. The painters approach the traditional theme from a new perspective, each in their own unique way.

In the 20th century modernism became a vehicle for observing objects differently. Individual expression began to take priority over traditional formalist painting, offering endless new possibilities. '100 Years of Modern Still Life Painting' celebrates the artistic successes that fill the gaps left behind by the canon of the 20th century on its path of rapid artistic progress.

There is no doubt that a visit to the Saints Museum is a fascinating and a unique experience that will help visitors learn more about the traditional techniques used in producing religious imagery and about the traditional artistic trades related to an activity so deeply rooted in the county, establishing Olot as a place of artisan interest.

The creation of the Saints Museum represents the coming to fruition of a project that, beyond the religious and iconographic meaning that its name might initially suggest, encompasses cultural, economic, historical, ethnological and artistic aspects (often interweaving) that form part of the city’s specific identity, and of our culture as a whole.

In some ways, this centre is also testimony to the dedication shown by so many people to the trade of crafting saints for over a century.

The present-day House-Museum in Portlligat was Salvador Dalí's only stable residence; the place where he habitually lived and worked until the death of his wife Gala in 1982, when he fixed his residence in Púbol Castle.

In 1930 Salvador Dalí moved into a small fisherman's cottage, attracted by the landscape, light and isolation of the place. Over the following 40 years he went about creating his home from this initial construction. As he himself defined it, it was 'a true biological structure [...]. Each new pulse in our life has its own new cell, a room.'

The resulting form is the labyrinthine structure that exists today, which from a single point of departure, the Bear Lobby, spreads out, twisting and turning in a succession of spaces linked by narrow corridors, slight changes of level and blind passageways. Brimming with objects and mementoes of Dalí and his wife, these spaces are decorated with features that make them particularly warm: rugs, whitewashed walls, dried flowers, velvet upholstery, antique furniture, etc. Furthermore, all the rooms feature windows of different shapes and sizes that frame the same landscape, a constant point of reference in Dalí’s work: Portlligat bay.

The house contains three distinctive areas: the couple’s private quarters, on the ground floor and in rooms 7 to 12; the studio, in rooms 5 and 6, featuring several art-related objects; and the outside areas, in room 13 and courtyards 14 and 15, especially designed for entertaining guests.

The Watercolour Museum was set up in 1989 at the initiative of the painter J. Martínez Lozano, who donated 100 works to the town council. The museum was created with the goal of making Llança a meeting point for watercolour painting and its enthusiasts, and in order to establish, over time, one of the world's most important watercolour collections. The museum currently houses 180 watercolour paintings from all over the world, and boasts an exhibition space of over 300 m2. There is a constant turnover of works on display and the collection grows each year with the addition of new works. From April to October a series of temporary exhibitions are held there, carefully chosen by the museum, representing different schools and encompassing a wide variety of trends, forms and colours.
