Pau is a delightful town. Its location in the county of Alt Empordà makes it an ideal starting point to explore the wonders of the area. Pau straddles the Cap de Creus Natural Park and the Aiguamolls de l'Empordà Natural Park. Like other neighbouring towns, Pau has been inhabited since the Neolithic, as testified by the many dolmens that still stand there. Other historical landmarks (such as the church of Sant Martí) date back to mediaeval times, when the municipal district belonged to the monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes, from where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Empordà plain.
