The craft market is a festival in honour of the Heroine of Peralada, Na Mercadera. Artisans from the local area and from all over the country take part in the market, held on Passeig de la Principal in Peralada. The stall decorations and costumes of the artisans are carefully designed to represent the geographical origin of each product.

The market is given a mediaeval setting. The Middle Ages were a key period in the history of Peralada with a lasting impact seen in the town's narrow, twisting streets, old walls, streets named after trades, gateways to the walled enclosure, churches, convents, castle... evoking nostalgia and legends that survive to the present day.

The festival in honour of Na Mercadera also offers several fun and cultural activities, such as the battle of knights, the staging of the heroic feat of Na Mercadera and entertaining shows for children.
