The ancient fortress of Cavallera, for which there are documentary references dating back to the 10th century, had the function of controlling transit through the valley. A 12th century watchtower survives. It has a square floor plan and is composed of a lower floor and two upper floors. There are no openings on the lower floor, while on the first floor there are small windows. The entrance, crowned with a semi-circular voussoir arch, is on the first floor.
