The old quarter of Puigcerdà is well worth a visit. Particularly noteworthy is its 12th century bell tower, the only element that remains visible of the ancient parish church of Santa Maria that was destroyed in 1936. Other interesting places include: Plaça Cabrinetty (formerly Plaça Major) and its porticoes; Plaça de l'Ajuntament, with the town hall and the magnificent Cerdanya vantage point; Passeig 10 d'abril, with the convent and church of Sant Domènec; and the pedestrianised shopping district.
