The municipality of Besalú, in the Garrotxa region, combines, in the narrow mediaeval streets of which it is made up, diverse examples of the coexistence between the Jewish community that settled in the area at the beginning of the Middle Ages and the citizens who were Catholics. An example of this are the churches of Sant Pere, Sant Vicenç, Santa Maria and Sant Martí, which mix harmoniously with remains of the Jewish culture, such as the miqwé or Jewish baths, and the traditional structure of the Jewry or streets of the Call.
