Municipal Cemetery of Olot
The Municipal Cemetery of Olot, at the foot of the slopes of the Montsacopa volcano, was inaugurated on 20th August 1821.
At that time the Olot cemetery consisted of a single enclosure. Of the three terraced rectangular enclosures that exist today, only the first was originally there, along with the entrance.
The beauty of the tombs in the second enclosure still captivate visitors today, constituting the most powerful symbol of identity of the necropolis. The works found there are mainly by the sculptor Celestí Devesa, along with Josep Llimona, Josep Berga, Emeteri Vélez, Martí Casadevall, Ignaci Buxó or Joan Ferrés, among others.
