Ecomuseu-Farinera. A museum at your fingertips!

Castelló d’Empúries has a longstanding milling tradition, dating back to when the village was the capital of the county and had three functioning flourmills powered by water from the “Rec del Molí” (mill water channel). Of the three, only one remains, now transformed into a flourmill. Recovered by the municipality and turned into a museum, the mill introduces visitors to the industrialization of flour.

The Farinera dates back to the late 19th century and first half of the 20th century. As you visit the different floors, you will follow the grains of wheat as they travel through the factory. Step in, breathe in the aromas, and prepare to let history and science take you away, as you learn about wheat, flour and bread.
